The Virtual Social Business Students’ Forum 2020 organized by Social Business Students’ Forum (SBSF) & Daffodil International University (DIU), in cooperation with Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) and Eastern European University Association had been successfully held from November 25 to 26, 2020; with the motto of bridging the young minds in zeroing poverty, unemployment and net carbon emissions. Around 200 International participants from 36 Universities and 23 Countries have virtually joined this blended program.


On this forum, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Laureate-2006 has delivered Keynote speech entitled ‘Role of students zeroing poverty, unemployment and net carbon emissions’. In the speech he urged young minds to come forward zeroing wealth concentration alongside  zeroing poverty, unemployment & net carbon emissions.


Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University gave a video message at the inaugural ceremony. He said that social business will play a big role in eliminating unemployment, and that is how the young generation should be interested in social business. The inaugural program was also addressed by Professor Dr. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Convener, SBSF and Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, DIU.  Mr. Kazi Mesbah Ur Rahman, Co-founder, SBSF & Mr. Md. Kafiul Bin Islam, President SBSF. 

Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director, Yunus Centre, Bangladesh; Mr. Hans Reitz, Founder & Managing Director, Grameen Creative Lab, Germany; have been the speakers of the opening plenary on ‘Implications of  Social Business: Role of Youth towards sustainability’. As resource persons, they have shared the story and reason behind the Grameen Bank initiative and mentioned the different aspects of social business. They have influenced young leaders and stated that young people should have the potential to make the most effective transformation of the world into a better place for all through social business. The insightful ideas and visionary leadership guidelines from the respective persons have motivated the young leaders from different regions to a greater extent.


The youth Plenary on ‘Eradicating poverty, unemployment and net carbon emissions: Youth in Action” was moderated by Mr. Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Advisor to SBSF and Assistant Director of International Affairs ,DIU; where young leaders  from different countries have joined as the speakers. As the panelists, they represented outstanding ideas and best practices that solving different social problems. They reaffirmed their ardent commitment of implementing the learnings in their community in this light. There was also arrangement for cross cultural activities and virtual coffee hour through which the delegates have represented their own countries. 


On the closing ceremony, Mr. Bogdan Voronovskiy, Director of the Eastern European University Association and Dr. Piner Elbasan, General Coordinator of Eurasian Universities Union spoke and appreciated the program of VSBSF-2020. Following the program, SBSF-Global Network has been announced. SBSF, established in 2012, is one of most leading and achieving students’ platforms in Bangladesh working on social business & youth action on achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
