Bangladesh Sees Boost in Entrepreneurial Activity, Supported by Universities, Private Sector

Global Entrepreneurship Network President to Speak at Daffodil International University Foundation Day

Bangladesh (January 23, 2019) – As part of Daffodil International University’s 17th Founding Anniversary celebration, Jonathan Ortmans, president of the Global Entrepreneurship Network in the United States, will deliver the keynote address – focusing on entrepreneurship and mobilizing youth to promote economic development.

Foundation Day is a daylong celebration at Daffodil’s permanent campus in Ashulia, Bangladesh outside of the nation’s capital, Dhaka. For the thousands of students, faculty and community members who will attend, the interactive program includes campus, national and international speakers.

The university’s Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a proud partner of the Foundation Day initiative and the university’s work in building a national ecosystem to support its entrepreneurs. As part of this work, and coinciding with the anniversary celebration, Dr. Sabur Khan, the chairman of the university and Daffodil Family, has been a key figure in efforts to establish the Global Entrepreneurship Network’s country affiliate in Bangladesh.

During Ortmans’ visit, he will present his keynote speech and participate in a roundtable discussion titled “Connecting Bangladesh to the Global Entrepreneurship Ecosystem.”Those in attendance of the roundtable represent all aspects of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including investors, venture capitalists, corporations, founders and policymakers.
