Seminar on ‘The Status of Remote Sensing in Forest Inventory and Management with Emphasis on Unmanned Aerial System’ held at Daffodil International University

Department of Environmental Science & Disaster management (ESDM) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a seminar in association with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on ‘The Status of Remote Sensing in Forest Inventory and Management with Emphasis on Unmanned Aerial System’ today on 27 February, 2019 at 71 Milonayoton of the university. Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Acting Vice Chancellor, DIU was present in the seminar as the chief guest while Dr. Demetrios Gatgiolis, Research Forester, Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station, US Forest Service was present as the keynote speaker. Professor Engineer AKM Fazlul Haque, Register of DIU, Dr. A.B.M. Kamal Pasha, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Environmental Science & Disaster management (ESDM) were also addressed in the program.

While addressing as the chief guest Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder said, due to increasing global warming and many other reasons, forest area of Bangladesh are under risk. So we need proper research to overcome this problem. But it is very difficult to enter into remote area of forest and collect data and information. So how we collect data from remote area of forest by using drone technology, this seminar is about that. Students will benefited from this seminar. He expresses hope.
