Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a new concept in the field of education which is being followed in advanced countries in Europe and America. Malaysia has also started OBE in 2005 for Engineering courses and recently for all courses in University education. In OBE, first program objectives are determined based upon of the survey of job market. Then course outcomes are fixed in line with the program objectives. And last, the syllabus is designed in accordance with course outcomes. It lays utmost importance on the skills the students will achieve so that they can start a good career and contribute to society. OBE is totally consistent with our DIU policy to make our graduates employed.

Through this workshop, the teachers could understand that OBE can be incorporated in our existing syllabus, making it more skill-based and job-oriented. The teachers were made aware of principles of OBE and how it works, with theoretical and practical tasks.

As there were representations from all the departments of DIU, so the applicability of OBE to different disciplines was examined.
