Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a seminar on ‘Research at NASA: Experience and Learning’ on 7th August 2012 at DIU conference room. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU was present as the chief guest where Emeritus professor Dr. Aminul Islam was present as special guest. Nomana Intekhab Hadi, Research Associate, Nasa Ames Research Center, Earth Science Division was present as Keynote speaker in the seminar.
To show respect to the religion and to mark the month of Ramadan, English Literary Club (ELC) of Daffodil International University in association with Turkey Cultural Center, Dhaka arranged a day long Photography Exhibition titled “The Horizon of Islam” highlighting the religious and cultural heritage of the Muslim World at DIU Auditorium today on August 02, 2012.
Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present in the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest. Presided over by Ms. Nahid Kaiser, Sr. Lecturer and Coordinator, ELC Emeritus Professor of Daffodil International University Dr. Aminul Islam and Mr. S Fatih Celik, Executive Director Turkish Cultural Center, Dhaka were present as the special guests. The program included religious essay writing competition, Islamic Documentary and film show and prize giving ceremony.
The Photo Exhibition contained some glorious photos of the History of Islam like- The Sacred Strands of Hair, The Seal of Prophet Muhammad, The box of Fatima –al- Zahra, The keys and Locks of the Ka’ba, Sword of Khalid Ibn Walid and so on
Addressing as the chief guest Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman said, Turkey is one of the friendliest countries of Bangladesh and maintaining sound and deep rooted relations of friendship and affinity. He also said that Turkey is a country of diversity, stunning scenery, warm hospitality as well as a whole range of resorts and activities to suit all tastes. A country spanning two continents where east meets west with 10,000 years of civilizations. Turkey is a treasure trove of history and culture. Today Turkey is the 16th largest economy in the world and 6th largest economy in Europe with a level of GDP around 900 billion USD, he added.
Later prizes were distributed among the winners. Azmeri Zaman Shanta of English Department and Zerin Tasnim Tumpa of CSE Department became champion and Runner up in the competition. Faculty members, high officials and members of ELC attended the program.
To prepare the students for the 21st century and to adapt them to the latest ICT friendly education which will develop their knowledge, skills and abilities to fit globally, Daffodil International University distributed 500 Laptop at free of cost among the students in the third phase at its continuous process of Laptop distribution on July 28, 2012. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU was present on the Laptop Distribution Program as the chief guest. Among others distinguished guest Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor, Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbubul Haque Majumder, Dean, FSIT, Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, FBE were also present in the occasion.
Department of Software Engineering of Daffodil International University organized a Workshop on “Outsourcing: Earn money online” held on 21st July 2012 at DIU auditorium. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University was present as the chief guest where Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbubul Haque Majumder, Dean, FSIT was present as special guest. Mr. Md. Mijanur Rahman, Outsourcing professional, ICT Consultant and Lecturer, Department of SWE was present the keynote speech as speaker. Professor Dr. M. Ismail Jabiullah, Head, Department of Software Engineering, DIU presided over the program.
Daffodil International University achieved Asia’s Best B- School Award and its three high officials were awarded 3rd CMO Asia Awards for Excellence in Branding and Marketing. Daffodil International University is the only educational institution in Bangladesh who achieved this award. The Awards are hosted by World Brand Congress and World CSR Day and was presented at the glittering ceremony on 19th July 2012 held at PARK Royal on Kitchener Road, Singapore.
Daffodil International University achieved the Awards in three individual categories for its outstanding performance in Academic activities and quality education. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University achieved the Award for outstanding contribution to Education. Professor Rafiqul Islam,Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics of Daffodil International University achieved the Education Leadership Award and Professor Dr. Syed Akter Hossain, Head, CSE of DIU achieved the Award for Best Professor in Information Technology.
The Asia’s Best B-School Awards are presented by World Education Congress, CMO Asia with CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) Council as its strategic partner and stars of the industry Group Individuals and Institutions who have surpassed several levels of its excellence and set an example of being role model and exemplary leadership. Individuals behind the institution who are building their institutions through Leadership, Innovation, Academic and Industry Interface and a Supreme objective of building future leaders.
An independent Jury comprising of Senior Professionals from Marketing, Branding, Advertising, Public Relations, Brand Strategy and Corporate Communications judged the entries. The Ceremony was attended by companies from 40 countries of Asia, together with leaders from different business fields, professionals from the worlds of economics, the arts and corporate image, quality experts, as well as academic personalities and representatives from the diplomatic corps took part in the CMO Asia.
“International Students Evening” held at Daffodil International University on 19th July 2012 at DIU auditorium. Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University was present as Chief Guest where Mrs. Pearl Liu, Deputy Dean, Shenyang Aerospace University, China, Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor, DIU were present in the occasion as Special Guest. Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbubul-Haque Majumder, Dean, FSIT, Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, FBE were present also. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Registrar, DIU presided over the program. Students of Somalia, Nigeria, Turkey and Bangladeshi of Daffodil International University were shown their performance on their respective cultural aspects.
Mrs. Pearl Liu, Deputy Dean, Shenyang Aerospace University, China visited Daffodil International University recently and meet with honorable Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman and shared views with each others. Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbubul-Haque-Majumder, Dean, FSIT, Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, FB&E, Professor Dr. Md. Golam Mowla Choudhury, Proctor, Mr. Md. Emran Hossain, Deputy Registrar, DIU were also present during her visit.
Hepatitis – B is the ninth leading cause of death worldwide and one of every three person is infected with Hepatitis – B, said the speaker at a seminar.
Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University in collaboration with Ibne Sina Trust jointly organized the seminar on “Hepatitis –B & Cervical Cancer Vaccination” on July 16, 2012 at DIU Auditorium.
Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University was present in the seminar as the chief guest while Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam, Founder Vice Chancellor and Emeritus Professor of Daffodil International University was present as special guests. Prof. Dr. Shah Md. Keramat Ali, Head, Department of Public Health of Daffodil International University presided over the seminar. The keynote paper on Hepatitis – B was presented by Dr. Mahabub Rahman, Consultant, Ibne Sina Trust and keynote paper on Cervical Cancer Vaccination was presented by Dr. Nadira Mehriban, Associate Professor of Dept. of Public Health of Daffodil International University. Conducted by Ms. Mehbuba Khanam the seminar was also addressed by Prof. Dr. Formuzul Haque, Head, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering and Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju Coordinator, Career Development Center(CDC).
The speakers informed the seminar that around 400 million people of are the long term career of Hepatitis –B, among them around one million people die from Liver Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer caused by Hepatitis –B. They also informed that on an average every day 2800 people die diseases caused by Hepatitis –B.
Addressing as the chief guest Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, said, Daffodil International University is very much conscious about the health care of the students and for that university authority already set up a medical center. After the commencement of Department of Public Health, a series of Health concerned awareness program, seminar and workshops have been organized under the department. He urged the students to follow the rules of health in every step of life which help them to be healthy and to contribute to the nation.
Closing & Certificate Giving Ceremony of Workshop on “Automation of Information Institution using Koha-ILS and MARC-21” held on 14th July 2012 at DIU main campus, organized by Library, Daffodil International University where Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor of DIU was present as Chief Guest and Professor Dr. M. Nasiruddin Munshi, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka, Librarian, University of Dhaka and President, Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) was present as Special Guest.
Every year, the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) with the support of Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Exporters Assembly, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, and Istanbul Export Center hold “Turkey World Trade Bridge” seminar since 2005. This year the Trade Bridge seminar was held from June 04 to June 12, 2012 in Istanbul. It is one of the largest gatherings of World Business Leaders. Over 5000 business people from 130 countries of the world participated in this Turkey World Trade Bridge-2012.
This year about 20 Bangladeshi Businessmen from different prominent companies and government high officials of Bangladesh Delegation were teamed up by Turkey Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TBCCI). The delegates and prominent businessmen of the different countries participated in the Turkey World Trade Bridge 2012 and exhibited their quality products and hundreds of business contracts were signed. The gathering drew the attention of the visitors in great deal.
The participants started for Istanbul on June 04, 2012 and returned to Dhaka on 11th June 2012. I visited Turkey several times for business purposes as well as for travel purposes, but this time, the experience and the taste was a little bit different which is me being selected as the Bangladeshi delegate’s chief by the Turkish Bangladesh Chamber. Being the delegation chief, I got the opportunity to gain and share lots of experiences and to be introduced with TUSKON, Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Minister for Economy. I got the opportunity to be familiar with Turkey and its richness better while establishing partnerships during their visit to the occasion and witnessed the well-known traditional Turkish hospitality.
